Rick Perry is a Republican presidential candidate, and recently became the talk of politics when he lost his train of thought during a debate, making a fool of himself on live television. To start, I'd like to point out that during a debate, or really any time you are going to be on national television, you should probably have your ideas planned out, along with maybe, say, a script. Want to torpedo your run for the presidency in ten seconds? Forget what you're talking about during a debate, having the other candidates make a fool of you. I'm not going to lie, I do feel a little bit bad for Rick Perry. 1) He's on national television, so he is bound to be nervous. And 2) He's under pressure with quick answers. I can see why he would be so nervous that he forgets what his points are. But I also think that if you are running for something as important as president, you need to be better prepared to be put on the spot. The people of America don't want to have to worry about a president being ill-prepared. I personally think Rick Perry has botched his chances of presidency, all because of a minor mistake. Anyone else would've thought that this was no big deal if it happened in every day life to someone, but the fact that this was a debate, on national television, for the presidency, makes it all that more of a big deal.
The link to this video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YdS7HGO_Ik in case you want to watch the mistake that Rick Perry made. You'll notice he forgets his third example. For future reference, Rick, come to a debate with preparation.
Wow! Seriously?! That's super embarrassing!I like how you ask questions in your blog. It makes people think about the situation at hand. I also like how you put people's minds in the perspective of Rick Perry by saying "1) He's on national television, so he is bound to be nervous. And 2) He's under pressure with quick answers." Good job Teagen! :)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way as you do Teagen, he should have had a script. It seems like he's been in the news a lot lately for mistakes like this. Nice writing and I like the link. Keep up the good work!!
ReplyDeleteI agree that someone who is in the national spotlight needs to be better prepared. I like how you added the link so we could watch the goof.
ReplyDeleteHaha. I can't believe that happened. If you're running for such a prominent spot as president, you think you would have your thoughts more organized. However, it's tough to be a public speaker. I don't think this little mess up will sway my vote too much.
